What is Baroque Music?
It may literally mean “oddly shaped pearls” that reveal the Renaissance interest in ideas. This type of music is a powerful tool for communication. Great musicians like Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, and even Joseph Haydn played it really well. It has become a way of expression for most musicians, even today.
What does it sound like?
The Baroque music is well-known for its energetic spirit. If you ever listen to a Suite, you can find it actually sounds like a series of dances in the same key. Some of the standard forms came in a sequence of allemande, courante, sarabande, and gigue. With an extended suite, you can enjoy even more. A variety of allemandes or courantes, bourreés, and minuets were often inserted. All genres can embody different characters.
